Here’s a fun way to celebrate Obama’s inauguration. Go to Paste Magazine’s website, upload your photo (or that of your bff, boss, lover, cat, etc.) and colorize it in the style made famous by Shepard Fairey’s campaign posters of our new President. Caption your ‘Obamicon’ with one of those used in the campaign – Hope or Change, for example – or get clever and create a custom caption all your own.
When you’re done, the site will help you apply your image(s) to T-shirts, mugs and other souvenirs, for a fee of course. But the ‘Obamicons’ are free and you can download them to your hard drive or upload them to your Facebook profile.
I created several samples using photos of the Make Waves’ staff. Kathy’s came out the best, so I’m posting it here.
Have fun and be hopeful! It all gets better starting Tuesday at noon.
