Congratulations to our client Wider Opportunities for Women (WOW) and its partner, the Minnesota Women’s Consortium, on the incredibly successful launch of the Elder Economic Security Initiative (EESI) in Minnesota yesterday. Minnesota is the sixth state to introduce EESI, which is a signature project of WOW and the Gerontology Institute at UMass Boston. To date the Minnesota launch has been covered in 27 separate news outlets, from respected print publications like USA Today, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune and the St. Paul Pioneer Press, to broadcast outlets such as Minnesota Public Radio and online venues, including PublicNewsService.org. See the entire list of media hits on the Consortium’s blog.
Get the latest news about EESI on the national project blog. And see all of the press coverage, both national and from the six partner states, here.
The Minnesota Women’s Consortium--the only one of its kind in the country--is a collaboration with 160 member organizations that serves as a resource to enhance equality and justice for women throughout the state.
Wider Opportunities for Women (WOW) leads two national networks promoting economic security within the United States: the Family Economic Self-Sufficiency Project (FESS) focusing on the needs of low-income working families and the Elder Economic Security Initiative, addressing what income seniors require to age in place. WOW works in 35 states, the District of Columbia, and at the federal level to promote programs and policies that accurately measure the income and assistance needs of families and the elderly.
